About The Soul Freedom Movement

Hi, I’m Claire, the founder of The Soul Freedom Movement. For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt called to create real change within the human trafficking industry. My journey began in 2012 during a year-long backpacking trip through Southeast Asia. While exploring Cambodia, I arrived in Phnom Penh, and what I witnessed there changed my life forever.

I saw firsthand the horrors of the sex trade unfolding around me. I was mortified and heartbroken, unable to comprehend that such exploitation could happen so openly. Conversations with locals revealed that this was not a new issue it had been happening for far too long and was only getting worse.

During my time there, I was fortunate enough to volunteer at a local safe haven. The experience was humbling and profound. I witnessed the heartbreaking reality that children so young and vulnerable had endured unspeakable trauma. And yet, despite everything they had faced, they still found moments to play, laugh, and just be children. This contrast between unimaginable suffering and their ability to reclaim joy stayed with me, leaving a mark that I knew I could never ignore.

At the time, however, I wasn’t emotionally or mentally ready to take on such a mission. I had my own journey of healing to undertake, having experienced sexual trauma myself. Fast forward 12 years, and I’ve done the inner work needed to heal. Now, I am finally in a position to honor the promise I made back then, to make a difference.

The Soul Freedom Movement is the fulfillment of that promise. It is my way of standing alongside these children and saying, “You are seen, you are loved, and we will fight for your freedom.”
